Armonk's The Gym Supports Make a Wish Foundation

ARMONK, N.Y. - Throughout the month of January, The Gym of Armonk will be holding classes that will raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley.

Members and non-members can take the classes with suggested donations of $25 that will be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses.

The Gym is seeking to raise enough money to grant two wishes, including one for an 11-year-old child named Carlos who wants a redecorated bedroom.

Some of the wishes are more elaborate, such as trips to DisneyWorld, the cost of which can reach $10,000, said Thomas Conklin, the president/CEO of the Make a Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley.

"We grant 120 wishes a year and raise over $1 million," he said. "We're supported by the national organization and raise money locally in 62 chapters in the U.S."

The Make a Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley is based in Tarrytown and grants wishes four children in eight counties.

The first class at The Gym, a live DJ Cardio Strength Mix, will be held Sunday, January 8 at 9:30 a.m. Five more classes wil be held from January 14th to January 28th.

Lisa Gagliardi, the group fitness director at The Gym, said this is the first time The Gym will raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation. It has also raised money to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
