Armonk Players Present K-pax in North Castle

The Armonk Players latest performance, K-PAX, was launched last weekend at the North Castle Public Library's Whippoorwill Hall. The show was directed by Armonk's own Rodd Berro.

"This has all been a tremendous pleasure to work on," Berro said. "We've all had a great time exploring ourselves."

K-PAX, according to a release from The Armonk Players, is a "very human" play by Gene Brewer and is based on his book of the same name and a 2001 movie with actors Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges.

"In the play we have science, drama, psychology, and a measure of personal mystery, offered in a clinical setting where a psychiatric patient claiming to be an alien from the planet K-PAX has come for treatment," the release says.

The production, which was sponsored by the Friends of the North Castle Public Library Inc., is the culmination of several Westchester residents that make up the Players.

"I can't say more than that it's been a wonderful experience," Berro said. "It's exactly what community theatre is all about."

The show opened on June 3 and will run until June 11. Its final three performances are this weekend, with shows on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for general admission and $14 for students and seniors.

The North Castle Public Library's Whippoorwill Hall is located at 19 Whippoorwill Rd. in East Armonk. For reservations, call (914) 629-1366.
