Armonk Park Program Crimps Duck, Goose Population

The Wildlife Management program at Armonk’s Wampus Brook Park is keeping the ducks and geese at bay for neighbors looking to take a fowl-free stroll in the park. The spring and summer seasons used to bring geese and ducks flocking to the park’s pond. Now, the program has left the pond bird free.“Occasionally, you see a few ducks swimming in the pond but not as much as they used to.”  Armonk resident, Abigail Heller said. While feeding the birds can be fun for children, ducking the waste the birds produce and the loud honking is no day at the beach. Some locals yesterday said they would miss being able to give their children bread crumbs to feed the birds swimming in the pond Others, though,  were glad to see them go.“I hated walking through the grass and having to watch my step because of all the goose feces,” park visitor David Klein said.
