ARMONK, N.Y. — Extra workers, including members of the National Guard, will be brought to North Castle to help in the efforts to restore power in town, Town Supervisor Howard Arden announced Friday.

A unit of 15 men from the National Guard will work to clear roads that are still blocked by downed trees and wires. Also, 14 electrical crews from out of state will be in North Castle on Friday to work on restoring power, according to Arden.

"We have developed a strategic plan to have them follow feeder lines," he said. "This should allow faster power restoration to the majority of the town."

Workers will first clear Middle Patent Road before moving to other areas of the town, Arden said. Other priority areas are High Street and Hickory Kingdown Road along with various areas of North White Plains.

The crews will be working around the clock, Arden said, but a timetable for power restoration has not been determined.

Meanwhile, dry ice will be distributed at the IBM Town Park at 205 Business Park Drive in Armonk for those without power. The ice will be distributed on a first-come basis from noon to 6 p.m. Friday or until supplies are exhausted. A Dumpster is also available at the location as well as a water supply for drinking or flushing toilets.
