Value Penguin looked at rates in more than 100 cities in New York and found that insurance costs can differ by nearly as much as three times between the most expensive and the cheapest cities. The most expensive area was, of course, New York City, and the most affordable area was Corning.
For Yorktown, the study found that costs are 17.7 percent above the state average at an annual cost of $1,706.
Other local towns listed in the study included:
- Poughkeepsie ranked No. 70 with an annual average rate of $1,544.
- Nyack ranked No 85 with an annual average rate of $1,784.
- Cold Springs ranked No. 77 with an annual average rate of $1,687
- White Plains ranked No. 87 with an annual average rate of $1,819
