ARMONK, N.Y. It seems Howard Arden has won Tuesdays Republican primary election, beating incumbent Supervisor William Weaver, according to unofficial results from the county board of elections early Wednesday morning. The unofficial tally showed Arden and Weaver with 365 and 332 votes, respectively, with 90 percent of North Castle voting districts reporting.
Armonk resident Theresa Cola said shes tired of the ugly situation shes seen lately within the North Castle town government.
Ive lived in the town for 29-years and I see a lot of difference now, Cola said. I see a lot of fighting, backstabbing and its a situation which I havent seen since Ive lived here.
Cola supports current Supervisor William Weaver and hoped hed retain his spot.
A couple of the newer members of town board seem to be out to get him and what he stands for, but hes a very decent man, Cola said. He has good ideas and hes lived here his whole life and he wants whats best for the town.
Armonk resident Michael Fareri has been unhappy with the way the town has been managed in recent years and he hopes to see change at the supervisor position.
I think theres a new candidate for the town supervisor that has the credentials, knowledge, education and business experience to make a positive change to the community, said Fareri, in support of Arden. It probably is the most important election in this town, ever.
Fareri thinks the time for change is now and he stressed that some members of the current planning and town boards are not fit for their positions.
I think that many of the people that had been put into position to make the decisions dont have the necessary qualifications to make those decisions, Fareri said. The town has been poorly managed in the last six years or so and I think if it continues under the philosophy of the last six-years, Armonk will become less valuable, and it has become less valuable, which is due to poor management.
