Air Quality Alert Issued For Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued an air quality health warning today for Westchester County.  It remains in effect until 11 p.m.

Ground ozone levels will be dangerously high due to the hot weather.

Residents should limit strenuous outdoor physical activity today, the department said. People with asthma or heart disease, the elderly and the very young are particularly at risk, the department said.

The state has set up a toll-free air quality information hotline for residents who have questions and concerns. The number is (800) 535- 1345.
