Accidents Abound As Travelers Hit The Roads On Christmas Eve

Several accidents are causing heavy delays in the area at midday on Christmas Eve day.

A downed tree is blocking two lanes on southbound I-684 between Exit 3 (Route 22/Armonk) and Exit 2 (Route 120, Purchase). The incident was reported at 11:50 a.m.

A crash on the northbound Taconic State Parkway at Route 301 is causing backups to Pudding Street in Putnam Valley.

An accident on the eastbound Cross County Parkway, reported at 12:30 p.m. at Gramatan Avenue in Mount Vernon, is causing backups to I-87.

An accident has also been reported on Route 202 in Cortlandt near the Bear Mountain State Parkway.

A stretch of Route 44 is closed in Poughkeepsie between Burnett Boulevard and Maple Street/Manchester Road, with traffic backed up to Catskill Avenue, in an incident reported at 11:30 a.m.

An earlier vehicle fire on southbound I-684 just north of the Westchester line caused delays between I-84 (Exit 9) and Hardscrabble Road (Exit 8).
