Westchester Battle of the Bands at Playland Friday

WHITE PLAINS – Rye Playland will rock and roll this Friday when the annual Westchester County Battle of the Bands comes to town. Six young bands chosen from applicants from across the county whose members are 15 to 20 years old will compete for first place at the park’s Music Tower Theater. This year’s contenders are Hawthorne’s Forever and After, Ardsley’s Pier 54, Yonkers’ Howling Hour, Valhalla’s Counterfeit Society, Cortlandt Manor’s Nepenthe and Eastchester’s Short Bus. Parking is $5 and regular Playland admission fees apply. Show starts at 6 p.m. The rain date is July 29. The event is sponsored by Westchester County Parks, Friends of Westchester County Parks, 107.1 FM The Peak and Sam Ash Music of White Plains.
