Vice President Values Small Business

Michael Schiliro recognizes the financial value of small businesses in any local economy. That’s why the vice president of Community Mutual Savings Bank pays close attention to their banking needs by providing them with personalized service.

“Smaller businesses tend to be underserved sometimes because of their size. We focus on helping them grow in business or in real estate," he said.

Schiliro, who serves as Director of Commercial Lending and Small Business Banking, has put that focus into action since coming on board in 2007. By stationing individual commercial lenders and business bankers in branches like Mt. Kisco, Eastchester and Greenburgh, business customers are more efficiently served.

His team also has a broader understanding of Westchester communities since they live and work nearby.

Schiliro believes this connection lends his bank an advantage over some larger financial institutions. “We’re local in our decisions and know our different neighborhoods well,” said the Armonk resident.

Before he started at Community Mutual Savings Bank, Schiliro spent 10 years at First Union/Wachovia Bank (now Wells Fargo). He says his previous posts as branch manager, financial specialist, financial consultant and small business banker has provided him with invaluable experience in top-notch customer relations.

“Our environment at Community Mutual Savings Bank is solely focused on helping business owners and individuals. We have the latitude to actually make it happen,” he says.

When Schiliro isn’t working, he is committed to his roles as husband, father and public servant. He is a councilman on the North Castle Town Board, a member of the Business Council of Westchester's Board of Directors and an Advisory Board member of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives.)

He lives in Armonk with his wife Lori, his three daughters, Paulina, Emma and Gina, and dog Rudy.

Schiliro coaches basketball and softball for his daughters’ teams and is a catechist for the religious education program at The Church of St. Patrick in Armonk.
