On Tuesday, the county is hosting its annual best tap water contest in White Plains. Residents can quench their thirst with water and then vote for their favorite. The contest takes place in front of the Michaelian Office Building at 148 Martine Avenue in White Plains from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The water supply with the most votes will be declared the winner and will compete regionally.
“We are all winners because we have access to a safe supply of this important natural resource that the county health department works hard to protect,” said County Executive Rob Astorino.
The 10 participating water suppliers in this year’s competition are: Village of Elmsford, Cortlandt Consolidated Water District #1, Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1, City of Peekskill, Scarsdale Water Department, Suez Rate District #1, Mount Vernon Water Department, Ossining Water Department, City of Yonkers and City of White Plains.
The county’s health department and the water suppliers sample the public waters routinely, and all contest participants meet all water quality standards, according to the county.
