The CEO Roundtable on Cancer, a nonprofit organization of CEOs, founded by former President George H.W. Bush, developed and administers the Gold Standard, and is awarded based on addressing cancer in the workplace. Nearly 200 private, non profit and government employers joined White Plains Hospital with Gold Standard accreditation.
To earn Gold Standard accreditation, an employer must establish programs to reduce cancer risk by providing ample opportunities to reduce employee cancer risk, as well extensive support during and after a cancer diagnosis.
According to Susan Fox, President and CEO of White Plains Hospital, “In addition to offering our employees and their families comprehensive health insurance that includes coverage of cancer prevention and screening measures, White Plains Hospital has a robust employee wellness program. We continually offer ways for our employees to prevent and detect cancer – including smoking cessation programs, free mammograms and lung cancer screenings. We also offer opportunities for exercise and other health and wellness activities both on- and off-site.”
This marks the first time White Plains hospital has received the CEO Cancer Gold Standard award.
