WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. --  White Plains Hospital has joined forces with Montefiore’s Healing Arts Program and ArtsWestchester in an effort to teach strategies to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance quality of life and healing.

In an event held last month in White Plains Hospital’s new Center for Cancer Care, experts from Montefiore’s well-established Healing Arts Program -- a network that uses the arts, creative arts therapies, and other art-based approaches to healing -- offered guided relaxation through a series of sensory activities designed to engage the five senses.

ArtsWestchester, Westchester County’s designated arts council, engaged attendees in a collaborative art project in which participants contributed to a watercolor mosaic with a soothing color palette designed to reflect their feelings of good health.

The afternoon also included healing touch therapy demonstrations by WPH staff, painting stations, music and aromatherapy samples.
