Westchester Celebrates Fashion's Night Out

WHITE PLAINS, NY- Thursday night proved that Fashion Week isn't just for New York City. The Westchester mall started off Fashion Week with a bang with its version of Fashion's Night Out, complete with free food, drinks and, of course, shopping specials at a handful of stores.

The first 200 guests were treated to swag bags filled with coupons for their favorite stores including Timberland and Theory, socks from Little Miss Matched, skincare samples from L'Occitane and Crabtree & Evelyn, and the latest issue of Westchester Magazine. A local DJ spun tunes all night, while just a few feet away from the glitter tattoo booth.

At Neiman Marcus, all eyes were on the live fashion shoot presented by Profoto: The Light Shaping Company. Up and coming photographers competed to see who could take the best pictures of the models in fall fashions. The models looked stunning in shades of maroon, tan and black. People couldn't help but stop and stare at them while the photographers snapped away.

Local vendors set up shop on retail levels one and two, giving out free samples, coupons and opportunities to enter sweepstakes. Restaurants such as The Westchester's own PF Changs gave out lettuce wraps while The Melting Pot treated FNO goers to strawberries and chocolate fondue. BCBG handed out samples of their newly launched fragrance. They also had a sweepstakes in which one lucky winner would receive a $2,500 shopping spree, plus a bottle of the perfume.

While the FNO party was raging downstairs, several stores all over the mall had their own special events going on. To celebrate the opening of Ann Taylor, they offered a 20 percent off sale. Stylists were also on hand to give tips for fall. Makeup artists from Nordstrom gave free makeovers and skincare tutorials. L'Occitane and Origins gave mini facials and massages while MAC Cosmetics promoted their new MAC Me Over collection and gave away samples of their new mascara.

Fashion Week may be over by next Friday, but The Westchester is planning a fashion show Oct. 22, hosted by Project Runway's Tim Gunn. For more information, visit their website.
