Westchester Car Show Features Italian Flourish

In celebration of Italian style, art and engineering, the Westchester Italian Cultural Center will host a car show Sunday, Oct. 2. The second annual Westchester Concorso d'Eleganza will be held at Depot Square in Tuckahoe, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.

The Concorso will feature rare and classic models, such as Ferraris, Maseratis, Lamborghinis, Alfa Romeos, Lancias and Fiats, among others. They will be parked along the square and in two adjacent parking lots and visitors can talk to owners, ask questions, take pictures and generally marvel at the vehicular magnificence.

"The caliber of cars is extraordinary, and these wonderful automobiles have legions of fans throughout the world," said Maria Masciotti, executive director of the Westchester Italian Cultural Center. "This is one of the reasons we are expecting a great turnout this year."

But the Concorso isn't only for car lovers; it's for the entire family as well. There will be entertainment, Italian food, prizes, awards, activities and raffles. The Grand Prize for the 2011 Raffle is a U.S. Supercar Tour – a one-day driving experience that allows the winner and a passenger to drive as many as five exotic "supercars" on a 120-mile road course in one of several cities throughout the United States. This prize is courtesy of Vulcan Motor Club, and includes round-trip airfare for two to one of the Supercar Tour cities. Other prizes include a "Taste of the Track" from Monticello Motor Club and a Formula One office chair.

Entry for Concorso d'Eleganza is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit the art, music and cultural programs for families and children at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center, a not-for-profit organization. "The Concorso d'Eleganza is our major fundraising event that allows the Westchester Italian Cultural Center to continually bring new and exciting art, music and cultural programs to our community, like the upcoming Italian Builders, Artisans, and Trades exhibit – opening October 13 – and the perennial favorite, Presepio Napoletano," said Masciotti.
