For the eight days of Hanukah, the entrance to our Sanctuary will be aglow with the light of the holiday from a new outdoor Hanukah menorah, designed and donated by Bob Karpel, a congregant of the temple.
In addition, the highly creative entries from the Temple Shaaray Tefila religious school’s third annual menorah making contest will be on display in the school lobby. Past entries have included “green” menorahs, ski slope menorahs, and race car menorahs.
“Throughout history, when times were dark and trying, the flames of Chanukah symbolized both devotion to our heritage, and the hope that light and goodness would yet prevail in our world” explains Rabbi David Greenberg, Senior Rabbi of Temple Shaaray Tefila. “Chanukah celebrates not only a great historical miracle, but also the ability of Jewish ideals and values to endure.”
