BEDFORD CORNERS, N.Y. -- Over 40 teens, parents, and staff from Temple Shaaray Tefila and the Bedford Presbyterian Church will be journeying to Nicaragua to build homes in Nicaraguan villages during their February vacation.

The trip will be under the auspices of the Westchester-based not for profit organization, Bridges to Community. The temple and church volunteers will work together during the day, taking part in such activities as digging foundations, mixing cement, and building walls. For many of the Nicaraguan families, these will be their first properly constructed homes.

“We are excited about this trip, which will be the 14th for the temple,” said Rabbi Jason Nevarez, one of the group leaders. “We work very hard, but have the satisfaction of knowing that what we are doing really benefits the people of Nicaragua.”

Located at 89 Baldwin Road in Bedford Corners, Temple Shaaray Tefila is an inclusive Reform Jewish congregation celebrating the most worthy values and ideals of our Jewish tradition. For further information contact the temple’s office at 914-666-3133.
