Although Malwai has a population of more than 16 million people, there are less than 25 trained surgeons to service them. It's Dr. Fulton's mission to change that number. “When the Malawi Surgical Initiative began in 2006, I think there were only four or five surgeons in the entire country,” Dr. Fulton explains. “I’m pretty sure I’m the only vascular surgeon that’s been over there. Ever.”
