The show, taped at Pace University's Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts, has been running with Lipton as its host since 1994 and has aired over 260 episodes. During Inside the Actors Studio, Lipton sits down with an actor or actress of note and finds out what makes them the performers they are today.
Lipton also heads Pace's Actors Studio Drama School, which is a three year master's program within the school's Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. He has held his role since 1994.
Lipton beat out nominees Ted Allen of Chopped , Phil Keoghan of The Amazing Race, Jane Lynch of Hollywood Game Night, Jeff Probst of Survivor and Gordon Ramsay of Hell’s Kitchen. The awards were presented by The Broadcast Film Critics Association and Broadcast Television Journalists Association.
