Northern Westchester Hospital doctors, nurses and staff are also taking every precaution to keep community members safe. If an office visit cannot be scheduled, telemedicine can take its place. Pre-surgery screenings are handled via telephone and anyone entering the hospital is given a mask. When everyone is wearing a mask—whether it’s a patient, a visitor or a staff member—the ability to transmit the virus is dramatically reduced because the transmission of droplets from one person to another is reduced.
“We are strictly following Northwell Health protocols and CDC guidelines regarding sanitizing patient rooms and doors, disinfecting equipment between patient visits, following the mask mandate and screening visitors,” said Ranjana Chaterji, DO, Breast Surgeon, Northern Westchester Hospital. “We screen patients 24 hours before they arrive, upon arrival and during their stay here. Our staff and physicians undergo training and education several times a day on making our environment safe.”
And while Northern Westchester Hospital has enforced a no-visitor policy during the COVID-19 outbreak, according to Gail Urbanak MSN, RN, Interim Surgical Services Director, patients can rest easy knowing that the staff will keep family and loved ones informed and updated on each patient's progress every step of the way.
Northern Westchester Hospital is open for treatment, with doctors, nurses and staff available so you can receive the care you need, when you need it.
