NWH's 3D Surgery Modeling Keeps Your New Knee Kicking

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- For those suffering from chronic knee pain, sometimes a complete knee replacement can be the only option to restore mobility.

Dr. David Yasgur describes 3D knee modeling for total knee replacement. 3D knee replacement offers knee surgery patients a uniquely customized knee.

Advancements in knee surgery allow for a highly customized knee replacement. Using 3D modeling, a knee implant is tailored specifically for each patient. The 3D model results in a better-alignment that is more accurately sized for the patient and surgically installed in less time. A perfectly aligned joint can last 20 to 30 years, eliminating the need for costly and painful supplementary surgeries.

"With this computer model, I get to rotate the model in a way I never could during surgery," said Dr. David Yasgur, Director of Quality and Outcomes, at the Orthopedic and Spine Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital. "With this computer modeling, you get a better alignment, and better installation in less time."

Next week, Northern Westchester Hospital will discuss partial knee replacements, for when a full replacement isn't needed.
