At the forefront of this holistic approach is the Cancer Health and Wellness Program at Northern Westchester Hospital. "The services in the Program teach patients how to live a healthy lifestyle in the face of cancer," said Adele Gargano, Director of the Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at NWH. "The services have been remarkable in empowering patients to deal with the stress, the treatment and the disease."
As part of the program, patients have access to assessment and consultation with a nutritionist, receive integrative medicine treatments, take part in fitness and exercise programs and benefit from emotional support.
Thanks to a major donation by Bruce and Andrea Yablon, the program has helped enrich the lives of countless cancer patients. The NWH Cancer Health and Wellness Program services are free to NWH patients with cancer. Today, the Program continues to receive contributions from grateful patients and their families, many of whom conduct their own annual fundraising events such as dinners and golf outings, in support of the Cancer Health and Wellness Program
"I’ve seen the amazing positive impact health and wellness services can have on people going through cancer treatment and then into survivorship," said benefactor Bruce Yablon. "Every NWH cancer patient should have access to these supportive services regardless of their ability to pay."
