That's because the show shot many of its locations in Orangeburg, as well as in Haverstraw, Yonkers, Rye, North Salem, Bedford, Yorktown Heights and Sleepy Hollow.

And Fairfield County gets a shout-out -- the show is about Axe Capital, a fictional hedge fund that is located in Westport, Conn. David Levien, the series' creator and executive producer is from Greenwich.

Levien said the choice to shoot primarily in Orangeburg was driven by the building, which is the former Olympus headquarters. "It has the right sleek, modern aesthetic, with the right kind of foliage around it and looks like just what one would find in Fairfield County," he explained. "We also shot at hotels, diners and restaurants nearby."

Many of the Rockland locations are used throughout season one. "The owners were really cooperative about making everything work," he said.

Levien and his Producing Partner, Brian Koppelman, along with Financial Journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin, created "Billions" out of a desire to chronicle the fascinating nature of power and ambition as seen through the prism of a hedge fund billionaire (played by Damian Lewis) and an equally gifted and ambitious U.S. Attorney (Paul Giamatti).

He told Daily Voice: "These two men of almost king-like power and influence who come to battle each other, just happen to live and work in the towns that we -- and your readers -- do."
