The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 1 and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, July 2, at Lasdon Park, Arboretum, and Veterans Memorial, in Somers, will also include memorabilia, entertainment, reenactors, refreshments, and a visit by a combat dog.
“Like classic cars, military vehicles carry a lot of history,” said Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said. “This show, which is unique in Westchester, brings together a great collection of history on wheels, as well as exhibitors and reenactors dressed in period uniforms.”
The lineup of vehicles is led by a vintage World War II Sherman tank and will include Jeeps, trucks, a half-track, a military ambulance and include items from World War II to Desert Storm.
There will also be dealers in a wide variety of militaria, including dog tags made while you wait. The show will include a visit by the combat dog Nero, a 10-year- old military German shepherd.
A new exhibit marking the 100th anniversary of U.S. involvement in World War I will debut at the park’s Westchester Veterans Museum.
Entertainment for the day will feature jazz artist Kristina Koller, various demonstrations and presentations.
An all-American barbecue will include an array of favorites along with traditional sides. The “officer’s club” will offer beer and wine. Tables are available on the new Conservatory Plaza.
Visitors are invited to stroll through the new Lasdon Glass House Conservatory, featuring the exhibit: “The Rainforest: Topical Treasures.”
Admission $10 for all ages. Event will take place rain or shine.
