'Love Me Some Bakery' Hot in New Rochelle

Tia Alleyne has been watching her mom, grandma and aunts bake for years. With all that love working in the kitchen, it’s no surprise that the New Rochelle baker has turned homegrown tradition into a homegrown business called Love Me Some Bakery.

A career financial services professional for 15 years, Alleyne said she gave in to the urge to merchandise her baked goods last year, specializing in custom cupcakes and cakes. She and her staff were out at “Ray Rice Day” Saturday at the high school’s McKenna Field with a cake for the Baltimore Ravens football star, who returned to his native New Rochelle for a youth football clinic.

“We love Ray – we baked a cake for him and came out to let people know about our business,” Alleyne said. “I started marketing the desserts because I love baking and wanted to open a storefront business. My family was the biggest influence.”

Love Me Some Bakery features cupcakes, a treat Alleyne says are fun and have loads of options. “Well, for Valentine's Day the custom writing was very popular -- names, terms of endearments,” Alleyene said. “Brides love their names, fiancé’s name, wedding date written and I make 'edible jewels'. Can't forget adding any photo the client wants on a cake like the cake for Ray Rice Day.”

“We do birthdays, bridal showers, any family event,” Alleyne said. “We make everything from scratch and that makes things extra good.”
