Caroline Anna Marie Campay was born at 12:38 a.m. and weighs 7 pounds and 4 ounces. The newborn, who is 21 inches, was due Feb. 27. Her parents thought she was going to be born much earlier, but she waited until leap day to enter the world, they said.

“I think she did it on purpose,” said Ramirez. “We had a number of false alarms but I think she held in just to be a leap year baby.”

Caroline is the couple's first child. A second infant was born at 8 a.m.
