WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Here are five of the biggest upcoming events in Westchester this week.
1. The 52nd Annual White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival from May 31 to June 1 at Tibbits Park in White Plains.
Artists from around the Hudson Valley will be displaying and selling unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry, handicrafts, and art work. Student art will also be displayed. Enjoy all these things along with raffles, food vendors and children's activities for free. All proceeds provide scholarships to White Plains High School seniors who are pursuing the fine arts. 2. Free Pet Adoptions at Pets Alive in Elmsford from May 31 to June 1.
Sponsored by the Maddie's Day Fund, all are invited to come to this adoption event and find a new furry friend for their family. There will also be a pet fair - so feel free to bring Fido along. Free. 100 Warehouse Lane South.
3. Westchester-Fairfield Autism Speaks Walk in White Plains, June 1.
Walk Now for Autism Speaks is a fun-filled, family friendly event to fund vital research on autism spectrum disorders. Free. 21 Bloomingdale Road.
4. Beekeeping for Beginners at Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center in Yorktown, May 31 at 10 a.m.
This is a workshop on how to maintain an active beehive in your own back yard. Topics will include bee communication and behavior, swarm management, bee-friendly plants, and much more. Registration is required. $20. 1271 Hanover Street.
5. Funny Food Art Workshop at Fairway Market in Pelham Manor, May 31 at 1 p.m.
Fairway invites friends and families to come and have fun with their food as Bill Wurtzel, author of “Funny Food 365 Fun, Healthy, Silly, Creative Breakfast” teaches families how to create funny food art. Free. 847 Pelham Parkway.
