Westchester Festival Celebrates African-American Heritage

VALHALLA, N.Y. – Westchester’s cultural heritage series is in full swing this summer and the next event will be held Sunday in celebration of African-American heritage at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.

The festival runs from 12 to 7 p.m.  It will be held rain or shine.  Visitors are invited to bring blankets or folding chairs for seating on the lawn.

The county’s cultural heritage series kicked off May 18 with the 16th annual Asian-American Heritage Celebration.  The series, made possible by a donation from the Friends of Westchester County Parks, schedule continues with:

  • Italian, July 7, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
  • Irish, July 14, noon to 7 p.m., Ridge Road Park, Hartsdale
  • Polish, July 14, noon to 6 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
  • Hispanic, July 21, noon to 7 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
  • Jewish, July 28, noon to 6 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
  • Indian, Aug. 4, 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., Kensico Dam Plaza, Valhalla
