NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- While diners in haute bistros are happily munching down kale salads, crispy Brussels sprouts and $25 carrots, most of us don’t have the time, or the cash, to experience veggies in all their leafy glory.
Besides, it’s not easy to work more of the healthy, green stuff into your diet at home if you don’t know how to grow or prepare it properly.
But fear not, the folks at the North Castle Public Library are sponsoring a workshop that will have the most vege-phobic harvesting and blanching with the best of them.
Workshop participants will learn how to incorporate more veggies into their meals, how to grow a backyard garden, how to make the most of seasonal produce, and how to prepare and cook it.
The health benefits of eating your vegetables will also be discussed.
Everyone will get a sample recipe to take home and try.
The workshop starts at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, at the library, 19 Whippoorwill Road East, Armonk.
