Winter Shows How Telecommuting Killed The Snow Day In Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester County may have experienced record cold and a seemingly steady stream of snowfall over the last few months, but the brutal weather hasn't had the same negative impact on businesses and productivity thanks to the rise of telecommuting, according to Market Watch.

The growth of Internet-based technologies like Skype have allowed employees to accomplish most or all of their work duties from home; and it also allows employers to keep tabs on their workers to make sure they aren't playing hooky, Market Watch reported.
