Nerd Wallet ranked municipalities in the following metrics:
- Unemployment
- Rent affordability
- Percentage of other millennials in the area
Rye was ranked as the top town in Westchester and No. 6 overall in the state because of its convenient location to New York City and because of a 23 percent spike in millennial population. The town of over 15,000 struggled mightily in affordability with an average rent of $1,800 per month.
Tarrytown was ranked 12th overall, but saw negative millennial population growth with a median rent of more than $1,500.

The top rated town in New York for millennials in the job market was Pearl River.
