Lacy and Ramsey were recently awarded the certification and work as part of the team of specialists at the breast center in Dyson Center for Cancer Care at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. They join Sara Winterleitner who previously received certification.
The certified breast care nurse examination (CBCN) tests the knowledge necessary for the nurse to practice competently in the specialty of breast care nursing.
CBCN is the only nationally accredited breast care nursing certification available exclusively to registered nurses, and encompasses the entire spectrum of breast care nursing practice. This certification, from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, validates an individual’s knowledge of breast care nursing.
“The certification, and the accomplishments of these women, illustrate how we treat cancer differently," said Sandi Cassese, vice president of oncology services at Health Quest.
"We are working to ensure that we are delivering the best possible treatment available to our patients, and I congratulate both of them on this outstanding achievement.”
The breast center is part of the oncology program at the Dyson Center for Cancer Care at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, which is accredited by the American College of Surgeons. It is one of only 21 accredited comprehensive cancer centers in N.Y. and the first in the mid-Hudson Valley.
