ARMONK, N.Y. -- IBM announced its plan to purchase WSI, Weather.com, Weather Underground and The Weather Company brand, reports say.

The Weather Channel was not included in the deal.

According to a statement by the Weather Co., it will license weather forecast data and analytics from IBM under a long-term contract.

The Weather Co.'s app is the fourth most-used mobile app daily in the United States, according to a statement by IBM.

IBM shares were up 1 percent after the announcement.
