The longtime owner of a Westchester video production company is attempting bringing Hollywood to one of the county’s smallest villages.
Robert DePalma, the owner of DePalma Productions in Scarsdale, and co-founder Joe Piacentino, have expanded their business in Westchester with the opening of Azure Stages, a professional sound stage located on Summerfield Street in the heart of the village.
The co-founders envision the stage being utilized clients in the film, video production and photography industries for commercials, event and modeling photography, feature films, special effects shots, media tours and other professional uses.
Piacentino said that they saw an opportunity to expand their business and fill a gap that isn’t seen often outside of the Manhattan area.
“Being in the production industry for many years, we saw a gap in this regional market outside of New York City,” he said. “This area needed a professional space for video and film production, so we created Azure Stages.”
Azure Stages features an assortment of amenities to accommodate their clients. The space features a large white cyclorama wall that can be painted; a pre-lit green screen; an “industrial-sized” office set; full light grid; control room; editing suites; stage manager and a makeup room. Azure Stages also can provide services such as production crews; production equipment; lighting packages; craft services; makeup artists; photographers; sound booth and an assortment of backdrops.
“At Azure Stages, our mission is to bring your creative vision to life in a new facility equipped for the current demands of video, film and photographic professionals, DePalma said. “We’re conveniently located in Westchester and are pleased to provide the space and tool to help create content in the most inspiring environment possible.
Westchester has long been a popular place for film companies to shoot, and the opening of Azure Stages only offers them more incentive to take their sets from New York City north into the county.
“The film industry is thriving and growing in Westchester generating over $30 million of economic impact to the county,” Natasha Caputo, Director of Westchester County Tourism & Film said. “The opening of Azure Stages and its production facility builds visibility and increases business to the county.”
