BMW of North America has issued recalls for approximately one million of its vehicles that contain parts linked to car fires.
The German luxury automaker's recalls affect versions of the 3-series, 5-series, X5, X3, and Z3.
One recall covers a wiring issue for heating and air conditioning systems that may overheat and could increase the risk of a fire.670,000 2006-2011 US 3-Series vehicles.
The second is as a result of a problem with a heater valve in 740,000 2007-2011 BMW models equipped with six-cylinder engines.
Though the total for both recalls is more than 1.4 million, some vehicles are included in both recalls, making the number of actual vehicle recalls about one million.
Dealers will replace the wiring and connectors.
Both recalls followed recent meetings with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, BMW said.
