The luncheon is hosted by the Westchester County Association and honors pioneering women scientists who work in the region.
The other honorees for the luncheon are: JoAnn Difede, PhD, director of the Program for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Studies at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and professor, Department of Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University; Joan Fallon, DC, chief executive officer, Curemark, LLC; Lynn Macdonald, PhD, executive director, Pain, Neurology & VI Next, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals; Rebecca Sommi, senior vice president of operations, support, and engineering, Broadview Networks; and Andrea Soto, vice president, MasterCard.
“The Women in Technology luncheon provides a forum for the women to share their stories and for us to shine a light on their successes,” said Marissa Brett, president of the Westchester County Association. “Westchester is a leader in technology and the life sciences, and we are honored to recognize these trailblazing women who are improving our lives daily.”
Sanford, a senior advisor for IBM, was responsible for transforming IBM’s core business processes, creating an IT infrastructure to support and integrate processes globally, and helping to create a culture that fosters innovation. She was senior vice president, Enterprise Transformation, responsible for IBM’s internal transformation to the premier globally integrated enterprise. In this role, she worked to transform core business processes, create an IT infrastructure to support and integrate processes globally, and help create a values-based culture that fosters innovation.
Two Westchester students will also be honored their the achievements and passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Brigitte Obermeyer, a senior at Briarcliff High School, and Lindsay Peckham, who is pursuing a degree in Cyber Security at Westchester Community College, will also be honored.
“We are proud to play a role in encouraging these young women to develop their careers, and the critical skills needed to fuel our Innovation Economy,” Brett said.
