Accused Thief Wanted In Pickup Theft Snared By Wallington Detective
A Wallington man who tried and failed to steal a pickup truck from an auto repair business grabbed another and roared off, said police who arrested him last week. Jake Kaniszewski, 26, entered the lot of the Main Avenue business on May 21, ransacked a Ford F-150 that was scheduled for repair, then tried to flee after finding the keys, said Wallington Police Capt. Shawn Kudlacik, the officer in charge of the department. Kaniszewski "appeared to be blocked in and couldn't exit," the captain said, so he found a second F-150 that he was able to drive off in. Soccer Player From Poland Charged With Vicious Attack On Wallington Bar Patron
A soccer player from Poland pummeled a man with his fists and feet outside a Wallington bar, sending the victim to the hospital with four broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a facial fracture, authorities said. Detectives who reviewed surveillance video identified the assailant as Oskar Potoczny, a 21-year-old Polish national who apparently quit playing football in his homeland last year. They arrested Potoczny on aggravated assault charges only to have a Superior Court judge in Hackensack release him the very next day. Wanted Suspect Caught After Ramming Wallington Police Car In Escape Attempt
A suspect wanted out of Carlstadt rammed a Wallington police car with her SUV in an escape attempt before she was chased down in East Rutherford, authorities said. Officer Kasper Zielinski spotted accused shoplifter Amy Putrino, 38, of Paterson, leaving the GNC store on Paterson Avenue, Police Chief Carmello J. Imbruglia said on Tuesday, April 25. A Wallington man with a violent history was pepper-sprayed and arrested after a scuffle with police who said he spit on them. Max C. Zaccone, 28, "appeared heavily intoxicated and verbally and physically threatened officers" who responded to a dispute and were trying to sort things out at a Wallington Avenue home, Wallington Police Capt. A peppy pit bull named Rocky Balboa jumped into the swiftly-moving Saddle River in Garfield on Friday, requiring rescuers to fetch him. His Passaic owner was walking the year-and-a-half-year-old hound along the riverbank in the area of River Drive and Marsellus Place when he broke free to chase some Canada geese, Garfield Police Lt.
