Major NJ Highway Closing This Weekend For Repairs
Route 202 will be closed in both directions this weekend for drainage pipe replacement in Hunterdon County. Both southbound lanes and one right northbound lane will be closed approximately one mile north of ramp Route 29, from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday, New Jersey's transportation department said. Southbound traffic will get by in the southbound shoulder, while one right lane will be open for northbound traffic. Port Authority May Raise Tolls On GWB, Other Bridges And Tunnels: Report
The Port Authority is considering raising tolls on the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel and other crossings into New York by $1, The New York Times reported Monday. Tolls for the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the Outerbridge and the Goethals Bridge are all $10.50 off-peak, and $12.50 during peak times. : Service On NJ Transit Trains Restored, But With Lingering Delays
Trains were stopped Wednesday morning between North Philadelphia and Penn Station New York due to a problem with overhead power lines, Amtrak said in a statement. The outage affected Amtrak trains as well as NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct rail service in both directions. Power was restored by about 11 a.m. but NJ Transit said that as of noon service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines would be suspended, except for trains already en route to their destinations. High-Speed Maglev Monorail Being Considered For American Dream
A magnetic monorail is being considered to spare drivers the extra time in traffic getting to and from the American Dream in East Rutherford. The high-speed Maglev monorail -- which floats on magnets -- would be an alternative to the extension of the Meadowlands rail line, currently operating out of MetLife Stadium, Gov. Phil Murphy said. Hole Repair Jams Westbound Route 80 Traffic
UPDATE: Overnight repairs had to be made on a hole that opened on westbound Route 80 in Woodland Park after a drainpipe pipe below it collapsed. Monday night rush-hour traffic was backed up to the George Washington Bridge. The crack in the pipe, which connects basins at the median to the right shoulder, created a hole between the two left lanes. Drivers were urged to take alternate routes. A brand new 300,000-square-foot tower will be going up at Hackensack University Medical Center. The Hackensack Planning Board unanimously approved construction of the tower along Second Street between Essex and Atlantic streets -- east of the main hospital building, officials said. The new addition will be a replacement for the current inpatient operating rooms and some existing ICU beds, while creating three floors of private rooms. Section Of Century-Old Railroad Bridge Collapses In Ridgefield Park
No one was hurt when a stretch of a 100-year-old railroad bridge collapsed in Ridgefield Park on Saturday. The rear car of a New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway train crossing the 405-foot bridge where Overpeck Creek meets the Hackensack River tumbled down in the collapse just before 8:30 a.m. No one was inside, responders said. Work had begun just last week to replace the roadbed approaching the bridge from the NYS&W yard.

Cost Of New Tappan Zee Bridge May Be $1 Billion Over Budget, Report Says
The new Tappan Zee Bridge may come in at a final cost of more than $4 billion dollars, nearly $1 billion above the base contract, according to a recently released Politico report. : Ongoing School Water Leaks Concern Lodi Parents
LODI, N.J. -- School remained in session this week at one Lodi school despite water leaks. The district announced on Tuesday that students at Thomas Jefferson Middle school will be dismissed at 1 p.m. for the remainder of the week for repair. According to social media posts from parents, the pipes at the school have been bursting since Christmas.
