A letter to the Township Council from school Superintendent Richard Kuder, asking the township to cover the costs of opening a school building on Saturdays, initiated the fee hike, according to NorthJersey.com.
The township unanimously approved the fee increase from $65 to $78 for first through fourth grade basketball, and from $85 to $108 for fifth through eighth grade. The $13 extra per participant will cover the $22,000 cost of opening a school building each Saturday through the season, NorthJersey.com said.
