Carolina Nunez, who owned and operated Carolina Nunez Skincare Salon, allegedly offered and performed numerous services that she was not licensed to do, including dermal filler injections, Botox injections, cosmetic tattooing, platelet rich plasma treatments and the using a hyaluronic pen, Platkin said.
The salon was not licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling, Platkin said. As part of her settlement, Nunez must cease to perform medical treatments and any other services beyond the scope of her skincare license, Platkin said
Nunez had been under investigation since April 2022, following a routine inspection by the state, Platkin said. Investigators found and photographed injectable drugs, including epinephrine, xylocaine 2%, Kenacort 10 ml and hyaluronic acid, as well as cases containing hypodermic needles and syringes, Platkin said. In addition, investigators found blood collection kits with vials and a sharps container filled with used needles, Platkin said. A microblading machine and other equipment, such as a tattoo needling pen, pigments and calipers, were located onsite, Platkin said.
The location was immediately closed by the Union Township Health and Zoning Department, after being notified by the state, Platkin said.
