On Jan. 25, 2022, Juan Abreu-Perez stabbed a woman inside her apartment on South 5th Street, causing her serious bodily injury, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said.  Abreu-Perez was sentenced after pleading guilty to aggravated assault in August, Daniel said.

Man Gets 60 Years For 2011 Plainfield Stabbing: Prosecutors Anthony James, a 62-year-old Plainfield man was sentenced to 60 years in state prison for a 2011 fatal stabbing, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said. In Sept. 2011, Plainfield police responded to James' home on the 300 block of East 7th St. and found the body of 48-year-old Audrey Tanksley, Daniel said. James had called 911, Daniel said.  James was sentenced after being convicted of first degree murder and two weapons charges, Daniel said.

In September 2021, Plainfield Police responded to the 200 block of Garfield Ave and found Jamar Harris, a 36-year-old Newark resident, suffering from a gunshot wound, Daniel said. Elizabeth Hotel Homicide: Killer Gets 25 Years Behind Bars, Authorities Say A 32-year-old Bergenfield man was sentenced to 25 years in state prison for stabbing a man at a hotel in Elizabeth in 2022. The sentence for aggravated manslaughter was handed down to Javan Johnson on Thursday, May 25 by Judge Thomas Isenhour, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said. In March 2022, Elizabeth Police responded to the Country Inn and Suites and found Marlon Pantin critically injured from being stabbed, Daniel said. The man was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Daniel said.
