Frank Thompson was found unresponsive on the floor of a second-floor classroom at Roosevelt Intermediate School around 9:05 a.m. Nov. 29, 2022, Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro said. Westfield PD: Driver Who Fatally Struck Pedestrian, 87, Ticketed The driver who struck and killed an 87-year-old pedestrian from Scotch Plains last week has been issued three summonses, authorities said. John Cregg was struck by James Reid, 74, of Parlin, on South Avenue at the Scotch Plains Avenue intersection around 12:50 p.m. last Friday, Westfield police said. Cregg was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Newark, police said. Parlin was charged with failure to observe a traffic control device, failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and careless driving, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
