Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Route 21 In Newark, Officials Say A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 21 in Newark on Wednesday, May 15, authorities confirmed. It happened at the intersection of McCarter Highway and South Street, closing the roadway between Pennington and Mulberry Streets as of 4:40 p.m. Chief Assistant Prosecutor Tom Fennelley said his office is investigating.

Police officers spotted a motorist driving with an expired temporary license plate in a 2003 Honda Civic on South Street around 12:40 a.m. March 19, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. Know HIM? Police Seek Suspect In Newark Uber Driver Robbery Authorities are seeking the public's help identifying a man who they say assaulted and robbed an Uber driver in Newark. Police say the driver picked up a male passenger at 31 South St. shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20. The man, pictured above, punched the driver and stole her cell phone before running west on South Street, authorities said. The victim was treated for injuries at St. Michael’s Hospital and released, police say.
