Newark Man Gets Eight Years For Killing 31-Year-Old Hillside Man: Prosecutors A 33-year-old Newark man was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday, Jan. 26 after being convicted of fatally shooting a 31-year-old Hillside man in 2021, authorities said. On July 22, 2021 at 10 p.m., Hillside police responded to the 1400 block of North Broad Street and found Steven Zimmerman suffering from a fatal gunshot wound, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel and Hillside Police Department Officer in Charge. 27-Year-Old Jeep Driver Killed, Passenger Extricated In Hillside Crash A 27-year-old Warren County Jeep driver was killed and his 33-year-old passenger extricated in a Union county crash Saturday, March 4, authorities said. The unidentified driver lost control of his Jeep Cherokee while heading south on North Broad Street near Hillside Avenue in Hillside just before 10 p.m., Hillside Chief Vincent Ricciardi said. The vehicle hit a guardrail and overturned in front of 16 Hillside Ave. The driver died and the passenger was taken to University Hospital in Newark in unknown condition. Both are from Washington Township.

Friend-Turned-Foe Stabs 27-Year-Old Woman In Hillside Liquor Store: Police A 23-year-old woman stabbed her 27-year-old friend-turned-foe multiple times inside of a North Jersey liquor store Friday, Oct. 28, the victim's dad told police. The victim was at Mayfair Liquors on North Broad Street in Hillside when she began arguing with Daja Harris, who was there with two other females and two other males waiting outside around 9 p.m., Hillside police said. During the altercation, Harris used a knife to stab the victim in the chest and back, police said.
