Two Dead After Car Fleeing Police Strikes Taxi: State AG A police encounter turned deadly on Sunday, Dec. 10 in Elizabeth, after a car fleeing officers crashed into a taxi, killing the driver and passenger, authorities said. At 5:42 a.m., police responded to a report of gunfire near Fourth and Center Street, the state attorney general's office said. Police followed a vehicle of interest, which then collided with the taxi at Grand Street and Routes 1 and 9, the state attorney's general office said.
