Police obtained a warrant for Quadir Allen's arrest after he fled from a motor vehicle stop early last year. When police stopped him again on Jan. 31, 2018, they found a handgun on the front passenger seat of his vehicle. The gun was loaded with hollow-point ammunition.

A search turned another gun also loaded with hollow-point ammunition as well as heroin and cocaine already packaged for sale by street dealers.

Allen, who has previously been convicted of aggravated manslaughter in Essex County, admitted to charges of possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin, and possession of firearms while committing a drug-trafficking crime.

Allen faces up to life in prison and a potential fine in the millions of dollars when he's sentenced in July.
