Officer Fires At Elizabeth Man Who Pulled Gun, Authorities Say

A 19-year-old Elizabeth man who was shot at by a police officer after he allegedly drew a weapon Friday has been arrested, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said.

Police were called to the 400 block of Vine Street around 10 p.m. Friday, where they spotted Cesar Garcia-Lemus, authorities said. Garcia-Lemus pulled a .38 caliber handgun and was told to stop by a police officer, authorities also said. 

When Garcia-Lemus did not comply, an officer fired a single round. Garcia-Lemus dropped the gun and was taken into custody, authorities also said.  

No one was hit. 

Garcia-Lemus was arrested and charged with weapons offenses and was being held at the Union County jail.
