Plainfield Man, 48, Fatally Struck By Car On Route 22

A 48-year-old man was killed after a car hit struck him on Route 22 in North Plainfield, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Route 22 between North Street and Watchung Avenue, police said.

Jason A. Kohl, of Plainfield, was walking west between North Drive and Watchung Avenue when a car struck him around 4:50 a.m. Sunday, North Plainfield police said.

The driver, a 38-year-old Somerville man, stopped and has not been charged. Kohl was pronounced dead at the scene.
