Mychalczak was born in Orange and grew up in Maplewood and Short Hills, later attending McGill University and getting her Masters degree at Columbia University, her obituary reads.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 23 at Union Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark, according to her obituary.
