Community Rallies To Save Orange Barbershop Blade Barbershop has been an institution in Orange for over 20 years. Now the community is giving back. A fundraiser has been launched to help keep Blade Barbershop open, as its owner Eli Simmons, battles several health issues. As of Tuesday, April 23, more than $1,000 has been raised. Simmons is facing hip surgeries, leaving him unable to work behind the chair, his son, Eli Simmons, Jr. said. Miriam Mychalczak, Formerly Of Short Hills, Maplewood, Dies At 52 Miriam "Miriasia" Mychalczak, a North Jersey native, died on Friday, Feb. 16 at the age of 56. according to her obituary. Mychalczak was born in Orange and grew up in Maplewood and Short Hills, later attending McGill University and getting her Masters degree at Columbia University, her obituary reads. Covid-19: 8 Dead, 89 Infected In Outbreak At Connecticut Nursing Home Eight residents of a Connecticut nursing home have died during a COVID-19 outbreak that has lasted nearly six weeks. A total of 89 employees and residents have tested positive since the outbreak began at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located in Litchfield County, in the Town of Canaan, on Thursday, Sept. 30.
